REPORTING PROCEDURES FOR RECREATIONAL CRAFT

 

 

 

A.  OUT BOUND MOVEMENTS

 

1.      Persons in charge of recreational craft of all types ranging from off-shore power boats, cabin cruisers,

yachts, sailing dinghies, diving boats, rowing sculls, canoes, personal watercraft and    water – ski boats

navigating within the limits of the Port of Larne  are required to contact Larne Port Control on VHF Channel 14

or Tel no 02828 872179 and advise time of their departure and intended passage plan

 

2.      Larne Port Control will inform the user of any shipping activity currently underway or planned.

 

3.      Larne Port Control will then give the recreational user :

a/ Advise that it is clear to start their transit through the harbour.
b/ Direction to remain in present position until a certain movement is completed.
c/ Direction to keep clear of a certain area e.g. a navigational channel.
d/ Direction not to exceed a specified speed in a specific area.
e/ Information of any fast craft operations.
f/ Advise of any other situation which could prejudice the safe passage through harbour limits.

 

4.   If it is the intention of the recreational user to remain within port limits then the recreational user should

advise Larne Port Control of this intention. When navigating within port limits the craft operator must keep

Larne Port Control advised of his/her intentions.

 

 

B. INWARD MOVEMENTS

 

1. The recreational user will call Larne Port Control on VHF Channel 14 prior to entering Port of Larne

 limits and give information on their passage plan.

 

2.  Larne  Port Control will advise the recreational user as per A.3. above.

 

3.  The recreational user will advise Larne Port Control on safe arrival at the intended destination.

 

 

WHEN OPERATING WITHIN PORT OF LARNE LIMITS

YOU MUST MAINTAIN A LISTENING WATCH

ON VHF CHANNEL 14.
